Bathroom Redo (Feb 08)
Read MoreIt took getting snowed in to give me time to get the bathroom done. I spent Sunday and Monday all day about 12 hours each day, then every evening this week and all day Friday. But it is done. It was trailer wallboard, very ugly and cheap the whole bathroom. Mom wanted to see some pictures, so I took some with my phone. What I did.
Stripped off the wall paper, primed the walls and ceiling then taped and floated several times;
Textured the walls and ceiling;
Painted;
Installed new floor, toilet, vanity, counter top, sink and brushed nickel faucet;
Installed new brushed nickel towel bar, paper holder, shower rod and rod holder on back on door;
Installed new brushed nickel door holder, magnetic;
Installed new brushed nickel door hinges, strike, and door knob;
Installed cheap shower faucet and nice shower head. My trailer tub only accepts a certain type of faucet,,, cheap trailer style, Dang it.
I caulked everything well around tub, pipes, shower and floor before I installed new trim boards and then again after I installed new trim. I did a better job, I think, than most new homes being built.
What I have left to do.
1. Caulk around toilet
2. Touch up paint
3. Move electrical outlet by sink up a little so I get install the granite side splash plate.
4. Replace the fan and light switch with new
5. Trim out the medicine cabinet. We don't want to put it back. Norma wants me to line the four inside wall edges with wood, trim with one inch wood like a picture frame, install two nick knack shelves and stain close to the vanity and mirror.
I will plan better, and I already have the knowledge and all the tools needed. So I hope the master bathroom can be done in four days. I am taking sheetrock out in this one, replacing window and installing a fart fan. Of course everything except shower/tub will be replaced.
Think I will take two weeks off, then schedule four days to get it done.
I will take better pictures when totally done.
