Mary Clare Galligan, 1415 Highland Parkway, was one of nineteen graduates of St. Paul secondary schools, who were honored at a luncheon given by the St. Paul Kiwanis Club on Thursday, May 20th. The students were selected ‘because of outstanding achievement and attainment of special distinction during their high school careers for high scholarship, leadership in student affairs, and eminence in special fields.
Mary Clare's record is as follows: Valedictorian of her class, winner of the Bausch and Lomb science award medal for achieving the highest scholastic record in science subjects, and recipient of a medal from the French government for excellence in the French Language as a result of competitive regional contest. She is president of the Glee Club, president of the French Club, a member of the yearbook staff and of Aquateens swimming club, and had a leading part in the Senior operetta, "The Mikado".
She also has held many class offices and has served as a member of the Student Council during her four years at Derham Hall High School, from which she graduated on June 4th
