Day 1 - We decided to drive down on Sunday and took our scenic route and saw deer outside of the Brazoria Wildlife Refuge.

Day 1 - Arrival - We parked the car inside an old warehouse. The process was very easy and we were in the Windjammer Cafe by 130p enjoying our first meal.

Day 1 - Leaving Galveston - Our luggage arrived after the mandatory Muster Drill so we were able to unpack and get our cabin in order before heading to the Rembrandt Dining Room on Deck 3. We were unable to select the Traditional Dining option and had to go with their "My Time Dining" option. I had made reservations for 5:30 but there was a long line when we got there. We sat at a table for two and our waiters were nice. Not too sure if we like this option! Since we started early, we decided to skip the night entertainment and go to bed! Lights out before 9 p.m.

Day 2 - At Sea - It was a bumpy day again and a little chilly as we were leaving the cold front that was in Texas on Sunday. It was our typical routine - go to breakfast at the Windjammer, stop on Deck 10 to visit the Card Room for the daily puzzles and head to the Schooner Bar to participate in Morning Trivia (we ran into Sandy from our November cruise and received goodies for winning at trivia!). We then headed to the dining room to talk to them about switching to traditional dining. He wasn't able to accommodate our request but said to get there early and ask for our same table. Lunch was back at the Windjammer and then we strolled the Promenade and browsed in the shops. We still had a wait for dinner but Vilson, our waiter, said to just walk in and he would register us. They cancelled the aerial production show and we enjoyed listening to Darryl J Williams as he related his story from a small town in South Carolina to some of the great stages of New York and beyond in his show 'The Mind of a Tenor'. It was a great evening of R&B music.

Day 3 - At Sea - It was a little warmer but I was still chilly all day! After breakfast, we picked up the daily puzzles and headed to the Schooner Bar for Puzzles and Trivia. We headed to the Windjammer for lunch and found the swing to enjoy a little reading. We did enjoy our first towel animal (he appeared on Day 2 but our picture for him wasn't publish-worthy). It was nice to walk in and go straight to our table. Maybe this 'my time dining' isn't such a bad thing - since it's just the two of us, we do get through dinner in a very timely manner. After dinner we headed to the Top Tier event. We wandered around for a bit and headed to our cabins for an early night. Our 'meet time' for the Roatan excursion is early - before 9a!

Day 4 - Roatan - We headed to an early breakfast so we could be off the ship and join our Best of Roatan Island Tour. They crowded us into a small van - way too many passengers for the van's size. We took a very long 'scenic' rive along the island's central ridge through very busy and bumpy streets filled with pot-holes. Our first stop was in the Dixon Cove Harbor where we explored the 2-mile long waterway on an island style boat. Unfortunately it was raining and our raincoats were in the cabin. Thankfully, I had grabbed my small umbrella! The boat ride took us by an old abandoned boat.

Day 4 - Roatan - The Vista and Glory were docked at the Carnival port in Mahogany Bay - a 20 acre port allowing for 2 cruise ships to be docked and accommodating over 8000 passengers.

Day 4 - Roatan - Red Mangroves get their name from the bright red color of the wood underneath the bark of the tree. Red Mangrove trees can grow up to 30 feet. In order to grow that big in a soft muddy environment, the tree has adapted aerial 'prop roots' which help prop up the tree and give it a spider-like appearance.

Day 4 - Roatan - Our next stop was along side of the road to see the Barrier Reef. The Roatan Barrier Reef is part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef and is also known as the Jewel of the Caribbean. It is located in the Caribbean Sea and runs along the coasts of Belize, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico.

Day 4 - Roatan - Our final stop was in Punta Gorda. The oldest permanent settlement in Roatan, "Fat Point" was founded around April 1797 when 3000 Garifuna deportees from the island of San Vicente were stranded by the British. We purchased 3 small hand carved mahogany bowls from a vendor at this stop.

Day 4 - Roatan - Punta Gorda - we enjoyed watching the performance of the Junkanoo and traditional dances from the Garifuna community. These descendants of the Black Carib Indians and African slaves have maintained their language, traditions and lifestyle.
